Phnom Penh, April 8, 2026 — H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, received a joint delegation from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Korea Development Bank (KDB) at MISTI to advance the implementation of the Collaborative R&DB Programme for Promoting the Innovation of Climate Technopreneurship in Cambodia.

The initiative, developed over nearly five years, aims to support climate technology enterprises, mobilize private sector investment, and strengthen Cambodia’s green industrial ecosystem.

During the discussion, Minister Vanndy emphasized that MISTI will serve as a coordinating body to ensure strong institutional alignment and efficient execution. Stressing inclusivity, he said, “Implementation needs to be pragmatic, tailored to the Cambodian context, and flexible enough for our local enterprises to access and benefit from the fund.”

He also underscored the need for a streamlined decision-making structure to accelerate implementation and improve fund disbursement.

Mr. Jaeseung Lee, Deputy Regional Director for Asia at GGGI, highlighted the programme’s significance and partnership. “We have invested nearly five years in preparing this programme, and we are grateful for MISTI’s leadership, including the successful launch and the MOU with the Ministry of Environment and GGGI,” he said.

He noted potential implementation challenges, including the recruitment of climate technology enterprises, women-led participation, and investor confidence, adding that “a clear and robust intellectual property framework will be critical to determining private sector investment.”

Minister Vanndy advised the project team to maintain a flexible, results-driven approach during implementation. He reaffirmed that MISTI will collaborate on intellectual property protection and facilitate effective technology transfer to ensure tangible benefits for Cambodian enterprises.
