On May 19, 2025 at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, Minister Hem Vanndy, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for Informal Economy Development (CCIED), chaired an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss informal economy’s access to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and other government social protection schemes, particularly for self-employed individuals.

The meeting also reviewed progress and challenges in implementing benefit schemes to prepare for the upcoming joint session of Congress.

The CCEIED has been engaging ministries-institutions and sub-national administrations to continue implementing the benefit packages for informal economy, raise awareness of these benefits, and scale up nationwide onboarding.
